This is a great reminder that money isn’t the end all. It’s only a tool, a tool that can buy you stuff. Multiple studies have been done showing that you only need a certain level of income (which is $75,000 per year) to feel happy. Beyond that, the extra money doesn’t do much for you. You have to focus on a balance, you can’t be all work and no play, or all play and no work.... so it’s best to have a tribe, a successful accountability group. This way you help each other stay encouraged to keep on the right priority and course!

Working both for an employer and for myself has really made me focus on what value I bring and what I should be paid. There is no truer statement than this – you can always just show up and get a paycheck. But your paycheck won’t grow, and you run the risk of losing that paycheck in the future.

Today, I’d like to challenge everyone to think about not just the reference point of whether you belong to the entrepreneurial side or the workforce side. I would like you to think of the value you know you bring or can bring to others through the fruits of your labor, gifts, or talents. Now, add to that friends of yours that could add similar types of value. Now, looking at the value each individual brings; we can enrich the lives of others greatly by just thinking of what WE can do rather than thinking of doing just the status quo.

If we could focus on adding value, bringing thoughts and skills to the table, we become the best at what we do. It doesn’t matter if you’re flipping burgers at McDonalds or running a company – it’s all about the value you bring.

Today, enjoy where you are in life! Take notice of the grass, see the color. Look at the true nature; the sky, the ocean, rivers, and lakes. Grasp the beautiful clarity in the moment.
