Value added selling is a must in today’s ‘social’ business environment. Are you adding value?
In today's market place, where so many products and services are out there, the ability to add value to your product or service is an absolute necessity. There is no doubt that in the absence of value added components virtually any product or service can be driven down to the most bottom line - price. I’m completely convinced though that in some areas there will be a superior uniqueness to certain products or services that distinguish them from any other ”me-too” products or services. In those cases, it is that value that #YOU share, along with the message of sincerity in how you share it that will differentiate your product/service from any other in the market!
The problem: you will rarely win the price wars in the network marketing industry.
Generally speaking, you find a far superior product in the NM industry. Therefore, it’s more expensive to manufacture and produce. You also have to factor in a commission paid to the reps for promoting the product. As a result the cost rarely falls in the “lowest price” category.
Let’s talk about a few of my favorite ways to add value:
Provide expert advice and a tremendously high level of professionalism. In order for you to be able to provide value, what you need to do is to understand that you have to provide a level of advice that is significantly higher, more sophisticated and a lot more valuable than that of your competition. What this means is a higher level of sophistication, wisdom and understanding about what it is that you do.
More personal development. The number one way to grow an organization is to grow the people inside an organization. That starts with you! The more you have to offer, the more you expand your vision, skills, knowledge, etc. The more people will seek you out because of the solutions you provide.
Serve your way to the top! There is a HUGE difference between selling and serving. I would estimate that 90% of network marketers are out there selling, telling and trying to convince people to buy their products or services. The top 10% are asking questions, listening, telling stories and painting a crystal clear picture of what the future might hold. They make every conversation about others, not themselves. They focus on helping people go from where they are, to where they want to be in life. Servant leaders always put the needs of others before themselves.
Go LIVE! I know it can be intimidating at first. What you have to understand is where it’s at right now. A video will get far more engagement than a written post. Facebook or Instagram lives are a great way for you to share your personal experiences, expertise and knowledge with your audience.
Tell your story. FB, Instagram and Snapchat have created a very powerful tool that most people are overlooking. It’s called “stories” and it’s a powerful way to engage your audience. This tool gives you a chance to become the star of your own reality show. And it’s a way for your audience to get a behind the scenes glimpse into your life. (Side note:) I️ know for some of you introverts however, before you write ‘stories’ off.
Inspire someone today. Make the choice to being a beacon of hope. Share your light with the world. There is already plenty of negativity in the world.
Make the decision to encourage, praise, and recognize wherever you go. Share information that inspires others to want to do more, and be more.
Remember engagement with your audience is the name of the game. By adding more touch points - you have more opportunities to connect and add value. Remember, when there are obstacles, don’t always label them as challenges. The biggest challenges often lead to the biggest opportunities.
